Would it not be cheaper for me to book directly with the language school?
The prices we give you are those advertised by the schools. Experience Language does not charge any fees! As agents, we work on a commission basis and do not need to add to the schools' prices. You can pay in Euro (price quoted) or in Sterling (ask us for the exchange rate). Please note that most schools add a booking fee, which is included in our prices.
I need help choosing a course.
No problem! This is what we do best. Fill in the contact us form or call us on +44(0)121 430 7660(or +353(0)1 5241914 and we will help you find the course and destination to match your requirements. Alternatively you can have a look at our "How to Choose.." page
What happens if the level of my class is too easy or too difficult?
On your first day, you will usually sit an assessment test. This will help the school put you in the right class according to your level. If you feel that you have been put in the wrong class, talk to the Director of Studies of the school. If possible, they will move you to a more suitable level.
I am not sure if I have the level required.
The Council of Europe has developed a European Framework with common reference levels. We suggest that you have a look at it and take the self assessment. If you are still not sure, let us know and we will send you a test to assess your level. Note that we offer courses for all levels, from beginners to advanced level.
How much progress will I / my child make?
This is very difficult to say as it depends on your current level of the language you want to learn, the course you have chosen, the duration of your course, your learning ability and also your motivation. Note that people who have already studied a foreign language usually pick up a new language faster. Here are some tips for learning a new language.
What type of accommodation would you recommend?
We strongly recommend that you stay with a host family. It is not only better for your language skills but also cheaper! Through living with a family, you experience a full immersion in the language, life and culture of your chosen country and get a chance to savour some regional dishes. It is nice to have the comfort of a home and yet have the freedom to come and go as you wish. You can usually choose whether you want to stay in a single or a twin room.
Is host family accommodation for all ages?
Yes. Some families prefer hosting teenagers, others prefer young or older adults.
Can I find my own accommodation?
Of course. You can choose to enrol on the course only and find your own accommodation.
How do I get from the airport/station to the place where I am staying?
If you stay with a host family, the family will pick you up from the station or airport. The transfer is often free but not always. If you stay in a different type of accommodation, we will let you know the different transfer options: taxis, shuttles or public transport.
I suffer from allergies / I am vegetarian
Make sure you let us know in advance if you have any specific religious or medical dietary requirements so we can let your host family know. It is also very important that you tell us immediately if you suffer from any allergies.
Do I need to buy any specific book(s) before I go?
Most schools will give you the choice of either buying or borrowing the book(s) you are using in class. For specific courses, it may be that it is strongly recommended that you buy the book(s). Note that some schools may ask you for a deposit when borrowing a book.
Who can I contact if there is a problem or if I am not fully satisfied?
If you have a problem or you are not happy with your course or accommodation, you should talk to the language school or Experience Language immediately. There is a solution to any problem but we must know about it to solve it. If you wait until you are back home to tell us, it is too late for us to do anything.
If we have not answered your question(s) above, please use the contact us form and we will endeavour to answer your queries as soon as possible.
