La Rochelle is a student town on the Atlantic coast. If you love the sea, you will love La Rochelle. As well as innumerable cafés, bars and restaurants, there are 24 cinemas and a large cultural centre. La Rochelle is the city of water-sports including sailing, windsurfing and swimming.
The SchoolThe school in La Rochelle was opened in 1987. It welcomes around 1100 students each year. Location: The language school is ideally located near the coast in a futuristic building. Facilities: The futuristic concept is continued inside the school with its twenty large, bright and friendly classrooms and a lecture room. The multimedia facilities are state of the art. The school also has a cafeteria with a piano as well as a volleyball court and sun deck. Students: The school welcomes students of all ages from 16 years old. The average age is 24. The majority of the students come from Western Europe, the rest come from South America, Eastern Europe and Asia. Bank Holidays: There are no lessons on French national holidays. Missed lessons are not rescheduled nor refunded (except private lessons). The school has the following affiliations or memberships: EAQUALS, Souffle LessonsThe French lessons take place in the morning from 8.30am to 13.30 Monday to Friday. They are organised by levels (beginners to advanced) and comprise a maximum of fourteen students. The lessons integrate the four main language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. ActivitiesThe school offers an activity programme in which you may participate on a pay as you go basis. If you want to do an activity which is not on the programme, don't hesitate to ask the school to help you organise it! Activities in La Rochelle includes beach volley-ball, table tennis, billiards, school cinema, cookery courses, guided tours of the town, visit to an oyster farm and excursions (Ile de Ré and Ile d'Aix, the Poitou marshes, Cognac and Rochefort, visits to the Futuroscope and the châteaux of the Loire. Weekend excursion to Bordeaux). AccommodationThe course can be booked with or without accommodation.
