Annecy is a beautiful historical town, often referred to as 'Little Venice.' The town centre with its many shops, restaurants and cafes attracts tourists from all over the world, particularly in the summer. In both summer and winter the area offers various open air activities such as water sports, hiking, bicycling, paragliding, skiing, snowshoeing and rollerblading. Located only 45 minutes from Geneva, Annecy has all the advantages of being close to Geneva and its international population.
The SchoolThe school in Annecy was opened in 1994 and is a partner of the IPAC School of Management. It welcomes around 700-750 students each year. Location: The school is located near the lake in a classified building of 20th Century architecture, a 15 minute walk from the town centre. Facilities: The school offers 8 classrooms, 1 cafeteria (vending machines), 1 computer room, wifi access and a study room. Students: The school welcomes students of all ages from 18 years old to students in their 80ies. The average age is 28. The majority of the students come from the US, China, Britain, Spain and Japan. Bank Holidays: There are no lessons on French national holidays. Missed lessons are not rescheduled nor refunded. The school has the following affiliations or memberships: FLE, Souffle, IPAC, University de Lyon, CCIS, CSN and Bildungsurlaub LessonsThe French lessons take place Monday to Friday in the morning and some afternoons. You will receive a timetable on your first day. They are organised by levels (beginners to advanced) and comprise a maximum of eighteen students. The lessons integrate the four main language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. First day: The first day is an orientation day. Students need to be at the school at 9am. Students will complete a written and oral assessments. They will then have a guided tour of Annecy, an information meeting and a welcome reception. Lessons begin on the second day. ActivitiesThe school offers an activity programme in which you may participate on a pay as you go basis. If you want to do an activity which is not on the programme, don't hesitate to ask the school to help you organise it! Activities in Annecy include excursions (Chamonix Mont-Blanc, Genève, Red Cross Museum or the UN, Lyon and the medieval town of Perrouge, Evian and Lake Geneva, historical Visit of Chambéry), mountain hikes (La Croix de Nivolet, La Dent du Chat, Chartreuse region, Massif des Bauges), cultural excursions and nature outings (Vanoise Nature Park, wine circuit, cheese circuit and Beaufort (cheese) circuit). Throughout the ski season, the school organises regular ski trips to the major ski resorts. AccommodationThe course can be booked with or without accommodation. Types of accommodation in Annecy include host family, shared apartment, studio and student residence. Please ask us for more details. |
