Choose a location:
Hyères is an ideal-sized town for a linguistic stay: big enough to provide all the services and entertainments you would expect, yet small enough to have a soul and enable you to get to know all the best places and to meet local people easily.
The SchoolThe junior school in Hyeres was opened in 1985. It welcomes up to 215 students per week. Location: The campus is located in a very quiet area in the middle of a vineyard in Hyeres La Crau. Students can not only enjoy the beautiful nature surroundings but also the 16m swimming pool, a TV room, sports grounds for football, volleyball and basket ball, a cafeteria and a theatre for evening shows. Students: The school welcomes students aged 9 to 17. Half the students come from Europe (Germany, Spain, Italy, Britain, and others), 20% from South America (mainly Brazil), 20% from Asia (mainly Korea and Japan) and 10% from North America. Bank Holidays: There are no lessons on French national holidays but an activity is usually planned for the day. Missed lessons are neither rescheduled nor refunded. The school has the following affiliations or memberships: FLE,EAQUALS, ALTO, CSN LessonsThe French lessons take place from 8.45am to 12 Monday to Friday (no lessons on the first Monday). They are organised by levels (beginners to advanced). You will be in a group of ten to fifteen students of a similar level. ActivitiesThe programme includes two weekly sailing afternoons, a day trip to the Iles de Porquerolles, Marseille or a nautical theme park, a half day excursion to Le Castellet, Le Lavandou or Bandol, various games and sports, a 'barbecue evening' or 'crêpes party', entertainment evenings. Option Intensive Sailing:Students aged 14 to 17 have the option of enrolling on the intensive sailing programme which includes five weekly sailing afternoons(or mornings) at a supplement of 100 Euros per week. The sailing centre is located at the Giens Peninsula, 10km from the campus, looking across to the islands of Port Cros and Porquerolles. The distinctive feature of these beaches is the low water level (you can wade out as far as 60 m from the shore). The boats used for the courses are the Hobby-Cat 13s for ages 9-14 and the Hobby-Cat 16s for ages 14-17. Younger students sometimes use optimists rather than Hobby-Cat. All the instructors are certified national instructors who speak French, English and/or German. There is one instructor for every 10 students. The school also offers "Kiosk activities" such as water skiing, canyoning, rafting, scuba diving, etc. These activities are at a fee and are supervised by professionals outside of school. Note that these external organisers used by the school are certified and they must meet the French security requirement valid on the day of the activity. To allow students to enroll onto these extra activities, parents must complete an authorization form. AccommodationThe course is offered with full board accommodation. Types of accommodation vary depending on the age group:
Students over 14 need to have parental authorisation to go out in the evening. Authorisation allows them to go out one evening from Sunday to Thursday (usually Wednesday) until 11pm and on Fridays, Saturdays and days prior to bank holidays till 1am. |
