Be ready to impress your friend. We offer you this unique opportunity to learn how to cook fantastic dishes. This course combines French lessons with fun cooking lessons and an opportunity to meet local peasants who are pleased to show you their products (honey, wine, olive oil, herbs or aromatic plants).

The SchoolThe centre is a renovated monastery located about five minutes away from Moustiers by car, at the top of a hill and far from main roads. The cloister is beautiful, an "oasis of tranquility", overlooking the hills. It offers a cosy dining room, lounge with a pool table, T.V room, inner court yards and terraces with enchanting views, a central fountain courtyard and very spacious and pretty bedrooms. The school has the following affiliations or memberships: Officially recognised as a "centre de formation" by the French ministry of Employment and Solidarity, member of Maison de France, Bildungsurlaub LessonsYou can choose to enrol on the "Intensive" Course or the "A la Carte" course. The "Intensive" course consists of lessons in the mornings and afternoons. The "A la Carte" course consists of lessons in the mornings only. The lessons are organised by levels (elementary to advanced) and comprise a maximum of six students. Activities"A la Carte" afternoon activities may include exploring the river Verdon in a canoe, visiting a truffle farmer and discovering what black gold tastes like, trekking through the Garrigue with the local forest-guard, doing a "dessin" workshop with an artist, a guided tour of the medieval town of Manosque or following a language workshop. After the evening meal, you can either relax or take part in a wide range of activities: a game of "pétanque" in the nearby village square, an impromptu concert in the courtyard of the monastery, a dance at a "bal populaire" or settle down to watch a French movie. The teachers and other members of staff happily joins students in the evenings enjoying these moments of informality and encouraging you to carry on speaking French. Sports available on site: mountain bike, volley ball, badminton, table tennis, billiards, boules. Cooking WeekendAt the end of your course or half way through, if you are on a two week programme, you will begin your cooking weekend. You will discover Provencal cuisine with all its rich flavours and scents. The monastery garden provides delicious home grown produce and the chef will reveal to you the ways in which these can be transformed into tempting dishes. You will discuss what makes healthy food, visit local producers and drop in at a nearby market. You will also visit a delightful house in the middle of an olive grove which is home to Maryse who will have a traditional dinner for you to enjoy washed down with regional wines. A treat for both eyes and palate. AccommodationThe programme includes full board accommodation in the monastery in spacious rooms or studios for 2 to 3 people with en-suite bathrooms. Note that there is a limited number of single rooms available. All meals are served around a large table where students and teachers are free to relax and enjoy delicious provencal three course meal. All meals are served with wine. |
