Located in the South West of France on the Atlantic coast this beautiful and historic town is a Mecca for surfers and holiday makers looking for something different to the French Riviera. Biarritz has 30 000 inhabitants in the winter and 120 000 in the summer.
The best way to explore the town is on foot, by bike (bike rental about 25 Euros for 7 days) or bus. During the day, the bus stops all around town. In the evenings, taxis are the best form of transport.
The SchoolThe school in Biarritz has been operating for 22 years for juniors and young adults. In May 2010, it will open its doors to adults. The adult school will be able to welcome around 80 students per week. Location: The adult school is located close to Biarritz town centre, about 10 minutes walk in a modern and spacious building. Facilities: The school offers ten bright, air conditioned classrooms and an internet and self study room at students' disposal throughout class hours. Students: The school welcomes students aged 17 to 80 or more. The majority of the students are Europeans (Spanish, British, Irish, Swiss, Italians, Germans), the rest come from other parts of the world, mainly South America. Bank Holidays: Lessons take place on Bank Holidays. The school has the following affiliations or memberships: No affiliation at the moment. LessonsThe French lessons take place from 9am to 1pm Monday to Friday. They are organised by levels (specific dates for complete beginners) and comprise a maximum of ten students. The lessons integrate the four main language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. ActivitiesThe school organises many social and cultural activities each week. All students are invited to register and pay on site. If you want to do an activity which is not on the programme, don't hesitate to ask the school to help you organise it! Activities in Biarritz include surfing, canoeing, rafting, golf, horse riding, Basque pelote initiation, mountain boarding, various excursions (Pyrenees mountains, Basque villages and prehistorical caves), tasting of local products (wine, Basque cheese, chocolates, cakes), evening beach picnic, cooking lessons and more. AccommodationThe course can be booked with or without accommodation. Accommodation is usually booked from Sunday to Saturday. The following types of accommodation are available: Host Family: The host families provide breakfast and dinner on weekdays and all meals on weekends, with an individual, comfortable bedroom. Students aged 16-18 years old are allocated twin rooms and full board (picnic lunch) as opposed to half board for the same standard daily price. During the july period the school may have to offer twin accommodation to students aged over 18 years old. Apart Hotels:
