The standard course is one of our most popular courses. The main objective of the course is for you to enjoy learning the language and the culture of the country while meeting new people. Classes are held in the morning or afternoon, leaving you the rest of the day for activities, excursions, socialising or relaxation.

The SchoolThe school in Brest was opened in 1987 and is part of the Chambre de Commerce of Brest. It welcomes around 800 students each year. Location: The school is housed in a superb 19th Century manor house located about 8km from Brest city centre in Le Relecq-Kerhuon. It is set in two hectares of grounds on the banks of the Elorn river. Facilities: The school offers 24 classrooms, a spacious and welcoming library, a multimedia room, a language lab and an internet suite. The use of the internet is free and open to all! Students: The school welcomes students of all ages from 16 years old to students in their 80ies. The average age is 26. The majority of the students come from Germany, Switzerland, Spain and Asia. Bank Holidays: There are no lessons on French national holidays. Missed lessons are neither rescheduled nor refunded (except private lessons). The school has the following affiliations or memberships: Brest CCI, Souffle, Edufrance LessonsThe French lessons take place from 9am to 1pm Monday to Friday. They are organised by levels (beginners to advanced) and comprise a maximum of twelve students. The lessons integrate the four main language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. First day: Students need to be at the school at 8.30am. Lessons begin at 9am after a short introduction to the school and staff. ActivitiesDuring the summer there is a full and varied activity programme in which you may participate on a pay as you go basis. Throughout the year the school will propose a limited number of activities, subject to student number. If you want to do an activity which is not on the programme, don’t hesitate to ask the school to help you organise it! Activities in Brest include workshops in oenology, gastronomy and cooking, museums visits, Breton dancing, sailing, windsurfing and various other watersports. AccommodationThe course can be booked with or without accommodation. The following types of accommodation are available: host family (half board), youth hostel, university residence or hotel.
