The ‘Poisson d’Avril’ tradition

Did you know that in France, April 1st is called ‘Poisson d’Avril’? On this day, French children go around taping paper fish to each other’s backs. When someone discovers they have a fish in their back, his prankster yells: ‘Poisson d’Avril’! I used to dread this day.

Recipe for chocolate lovers: Le Moëlleux

Pour six personnes:

  • 188g Beurre
  • 80g Farine
  • 88g Chocolat
  • 150g Sucre
  • 4 oeufs
  • 1. Faire fondre le beurre et le chocolat au bain marie.
  • 2. Dans un bol, placer le sucre et la farine, mélanger au fouet et incorporer les 4 oeufs et les 4 jaunes d’oeuf. Fouetter énergiquement pour bien incorporer les 3 ingrédients, pendant une grosse minute.
  • 3. Rajouter le beurre et le chocolat et fouetter légèrement.
  • 4. Beurrer le moule et verser le mélange dans le moule.
  • 5. Faire cuire 20 à 25 minutes à 210 degrés.
  • 6. Servir le moëlleux avec une crème anglaise.
