"Le Bac de Philo"

On Thursday (9th June) at 8am, thousands of French teenagers will begin their long apprehended Baccalauréat with the "Bac de Philo". Philosophy is not a very popular subject in France but it is a compulsory one, alors pas de chance!

This first exam will last the whole morning (four long hours!) during which our young French friends will have to write one essay or one commentary on a given extract.

Take a look at some past essay titles.

France is a beautiful country but it has to be said (and I am French!), it does have some funny driving and parking regulations! Did you know that in many towns, parking is allowed on one side of the street in the first half of the month and then on the opposite side for the second half? C'est incroyable, mais vrai!

DELF & DALF made easier!

Bonnes nouvelles! From 1st September 2005, the DELF & DALF diplomas will consist of six certificates only (it used to be ten). Each certificate will correspond to one of the six levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The diplomas will not only take less time to complete but they will also cost less!

The DELF & DALF are diplomas offered to all non French citizens wishing to prove their French language skills. Candidates who have been awarded the DELF & DALF are exempted from language entrance examinations in French universities.
