The TEF is a test designed by the Chamber of Commerce of Paris to quickly assess the general French language skills of non-native French-speaking students and professionals. While companies use this test to recruit, promote or set learning goals, universities and institutions of higher education use the TEF to assess the French skills of non-French-speaking students before, during, and after their studies. Non-French applicants to Canada immigration can also earn up to 8 points (out of 100) with the TEF certification. The TEF consists of a mandatory part divided into three sections and two optional parts.
