The SchoolThe school in Milan was opened in 2004. The school welcomes around 500 students each year. Location: The school is located in a University Campus in the Navigli area, one of the liveliest areas in Milan: many interesting shops including antique shops, restaurants and market. The area is loved by artists, designers and craftsman. Facilities: The school has 9 classrooms with air conditioning, a library and an internet area with 12 computers and wifi access. On the campus students have access to the canteen, the bar and the park. Students: The school welcomes students of all ages from 16 years old to students in their 80ies. The average age is around 25 (depending on the chosen course). The majority of the students come from Europe, the rest come from North America, South America, Australia and Middle East countries. Bank Holidays: There are no lessons on Bank Holidays. Missed lessons are neither rescheduled nor refunded. The school has the following affiliations or memberships: Italian Ministry of Education, AIL, ASILS, ELITE, FIYTO, ALTO, Bildungsurlaub LessonsThe Italian lessons take place from 9am to 12.15 or 1.30pm to 4.45 or 2pm to 5.15pm Monday to Friday. They are organised by levels (specific dates for beginners) and comprise a maximum of twelve students. The lessons integrate the four main language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. First day: You will need to be at the school between 8.30 and 9am. After the placement test, students are given an introduction to the school as well as the staff. The class lists and timetables are available in the afternoon. ActivitiesThe course includes a 3 hour cooking session each week. During each lesson the students prepare and cook a different complete menu which consists of typical dishes of Italian cuisine in the tradition of genuine simplicity. During the preparation and cooking of the food, the teacher demonstrates, explains and gives valuable hints and tips. You of course get to eat the food at the end. All participants receive a recipe book. Other activities in Milan may include free guided tour around the city, soccer match, art history tour to some of the most important sights where Leonardo da Vinci works are on show, guided tour of the "Last Supper" of Leonardo da Vinci, aperitivo night, dinners with the school in a typical Milanese restaurant (students and teachers), various sports, day and half day excursions (to Lago Maggiore, Lago di Como, Genova, Verona, Venezia, Florence, Rome, etc). AccommodationThe course can be booked with or without accommodation. Types of accommodation include host family with breakfast only or half board, flatshare, hotels and private apartments. |
